It is with heavy heart that I share that our dear friend, Kent Wells passed away this morning. Kent was the inspiration and a driving force behind the Multiple Myeloma Charity Classic (MMCC) and helped to raise millions of dollars towards Multiple Myeloma research.
Liz and I first met Kent at John Hopkins in April 2013, shortly after my Multiple Myeloma diagnosis. At that time, we were meeting with different doctors and facilities to determine where I would receive care. While we wound up choosing Dana Farber in Boston, Kent and wife Debbie became close friends. They helped us to chart our course and educated us on what to expect both physically and emotionally. The grace and courage with which they managed Kent's illness together served as an inspiration to us and so many others.
We hope to honor Kent's remarkable legacy by continuing to raise awareness about Multiple Myeloma and supporting research for a cure. For more information about MM, or to make a donation, visit www.themmrf.org.
