Veterans Day 2021

According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, as of this year, veterans represent less than 10% of the total U.S. adult population. The vast majority of us will never know first-hand the sacrifice that comes with serving in the U.S. Military. What we can do is express our gratitude. And while we should never underestimate the value of simply saying, "Thank You," there are many other ways to show our support to veterans.

Here are some ideas:

  • Remember…then make sure the next generation does as well.
  • Volunteer your time or support organizations that help our veterans, such as:
    • The USO (helps service members and their families successfully transition into civilian life when their military service is complete)
    • The SemperFi & America's Fund (provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to combat wounded, critically ill, and catastrophically injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families)
    • The Fisher House Foundation (builds comfort homes where military & veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital)
    • The Modest Needs Foundation (provides short-term financial assistance to veterans and their families in temporary financial crisis), and
    • Cammo Music (a music community that brings the voice of the American veteran and service member to America and the world, through music)
  • Learn about the different branches of service. For example, what they call their service members: Army = Soldier, Navy = Sailor, Coast Guard = Coastie or Coast Guardsman, Marine Corps = Marine, Air Force = Airman
  • Support Veteran-owned businesses and businesses that support veterans! Look for Veteran-owned and operated businesses in your community. Also, help a veteran start a business by directing them to resources that can help!
  • Become informed about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury. Read "How Common Is PTSD in Veterans?" and share information for the Veterans Crisis Line - a free, confidential resource where caring, qualified VA responders are available to help help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To those who have served our country, thank you for your service. We are forever grateful! If there's anything we can assist you with, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
