Local Estate Planning Law Firm, Altman & Associates, Turns 20!

The Rockville-based estate planning law firm, Altman & Associates, is celebrating its 20th year in business - assisting families, individuals and businesses throughout the DC Metropolitan Area on the full spectrum of estate law matters. (To put that into perspective, in 1996, a gallon of gas was $1.22, Americans spent fewer than 30 minutes per month online, and the Federal estate tax exemption was $600,000 per individual. Today, gas averages $2.25/gallon, Americans spend about 27 hours per month online, and the Federal estate tax exemption rate is $5.45 million per individual!)

Since inception, the firm has grown from just two employees in one office to ten employees with three office locations – Rockville, Columbia and Tysons Corner. In an effort to accommodate multi-state residents and “snow birds,” the firm has expanded its capacity to serve residents of Florida and New York, in addition to Maryland, DC and Virginia.  Unlike firms that dabble in estate planning, Altman & Associates focuses exclusively on estate law.

While he is recognized as one of the top estate lawyers in the Metro area, Altman & Associates founder and principal attorney, Gary Altman, is also known for making a mean wood-fired pizza, having an impressive wine collection, and for being a pretty good Pickle Ball player.

As the former President and Chairman of the National Capital Area Financial Planning Association, Altman (also a CFP) has developed lasting business relationships with the local financial planning community – a large referral source for the firm. He also finds the time to teach an estate planning course at Georgetown University, serve on the board for two local charities, participate in Leadership Montgomery alumni events, travel, and write blogs and articles on estate planning.

“Even after all of these years, I am humbled each and every time a client chooses us,” says Altman. “Of course, I attribute our success to our outstanding team of attorneys and support staff. Their commitment to legal excellence and putting clients first has helped us to grow the business into what it is today.”

The Altman Team shares a passion giving back to the community they serve, dedicating time and resources towards various charitable causes. This spring, for example, the team participated in a 200 mile relay race, raising over $21,000 for Bethesda-based Hope Connections for Cancer Supporta non-profit organization which offers support services to cancer patients and their families free of charge.

In celebration of the milestone, the firm has adopted a new anniversary-themed logo which debuted on their social media pages (TwitterFacebook and LinkedIn). In September, the Altman Team enjoyed a weekend retreat together in St. Michaels, MD and the festivities will continue into November with other celebratory events.
