Altman & Associates has been informed that the Maryland State Archives, which houses all the state's land records, plans to charge .20 cents per page to view those records beginning in May. While this new charge seems minimal, it affects the government and firms like ours, such as real estate and legal firms, with additional business costs, which must use the records for administrative purposes. According to budget testimony, this new fee could raise more than $1 million monthly.
This new fee coincides with a new Maryland Land Records website version.
One of many new fees resulting from the passage of the latest budget out of Annapolis this past April.
